Project Goal:
First, create an illustration for Weatherproof “Outdoor Wool Blend” socks. Second, redesign the product packaging.
Step One: Brainstorming
My process begins with brainstorming ideas. I create thumbnail sketches in order to quickly explore concepts. These sketches are very loose and rough, and they help me go through all the ideas that are floating around in my head.
Step Three: Illustrating
Now that I have my idea, it’s time to get to work. For this project, I decided on a vector-based illustration.
Step Four: Type
Once the illustration is complete, it’s time for type. I often enjoy working with older typefaces and for this project, I went with Optima, a classic san serif font that been around since the 80s.
